Lortab Withdrawal

Lortab Overdose and Overuse

“A sudden discontinued supply of opiates will often cause unbearable withdrawal symptoms including irritability, profuse sweating, abdominal cramping and diarrhea,” states detoxification anesthesiologist, Dr. Clifford A. Bernstein, M.D. “This agonizing withdrawal is the reason most of those with dependencies cannot stop taking the drugs.”

Lortab withdrawal occurs when you suddenly stop taking this narcotic medication. Withdrawal is symptomatic of physical and psychological dependence on a drug after chronic use.

When you suddenly discontinue drug treatment, the symptoms of Lortab withdrawal appear and may include:

  • Abnormal skin sensations
  • Aches and pains
  • Anxiety
  • Diarrhea
  • Fever
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Goose bumps
  • Hallucinations (visual, aural, or sensational)
  • Headaches
  • Insomnia
  • Loss of appetite
  • Mood swings
  • Nausea vomiting
  • Pain
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Rigid muscles
  • Rigors (fever chills), shivering
  • Runny nose, or sneezing
  • Sleep difficulties
  • Sweating
  • Tremors
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Upper respiratory symptoms.

Lortab belongs to the opiate group of narcotic drugs:

  • Semi-synthetic painkiller
  • Derived from two naturally occurring opiates, codeine and thebaine
  • Compound substance with narcotic hydrocodone
  • Habit-forming like all narcotic medicine
  • Induces psychological and physical dependence of the morphine-type
  • Triggers typical opiate withdrawal when stopped suddenly.

Lortab withdrawal syndrome or breathing difficulties may be transferred to a newborn from a pregnant or nursing mother using this drug. The presence of Lortab in a fetus or baby may cause birth defects, organ damage, or other physical harm.

Lortab Withdrawal Detox

Lortab withdrawal from opiates triggers a difficult, painful process. Like overdose, Lortab withdrawal may cause circulatory or respiratory collapse.

Discontinuing Lortab after chronic use may result in severe withdrawal. Only do so under a physician’s care. Drug dependent patients with compromised health risk an agonizing or sometimes fatal withdrawal when unsupervised by pain specialists.

Consult your health care provider before stopping or changing any prescription medication, or when considering detoxification.

Lortab Withdrawal and the Waismann Method

Lortab dependency leading to addiction or withdrawal is both treatable and reversible. Painful, self-inflicted Lortab withdrawal is avoidable through supervised medical detoxification.

“The hydrocodone addiction was completely broken by the detox procedure,” says former rapid detox patient, Mark. He states he never again wants to lose his emotional control, decisive thinking and clear mind.

The Waismann Method of Rapid Detoxification set the standard for rapid detox procedures over a decade ago. Some other detox facilities still use that outdated safety protocol. The Waismann Method offers a current medical detoxification procedure that is effective, humane, safe and dignified.
